Choice of floor tiles & paint colours

We wanted a modern feel to our first home. So, like many young couples out there, we settled on a black, white, grey & red theme.

Choice of floorings & painting were definitely essential in acheiving the feel.
We also decided to false ceiling the whole house, except kitchen area.
Reason being that downlights will cast a warmer look on the whole house.

We chose super glossy white homogenous floor tiles for the living & dining area.
And blackish-looking laminate flooring for the rooms.

For common toilet, we selected big-sized 600MMx600MM black tiles decked from floor to ceiling coupled with mosiac.
MBR toilet, we chose rustic-looking rectangular tiles also decked from floor to ceiling coupled with mosiac too.

For paint colours, we wanted dark grey walls for living room which seems to be the "in" colour for most homes now.

As for bedrooms, 2 of which were painted in warmer colours, brown & calmshell while another was painted in modern purple with midnight grey wall.

Here were the results of it:

Living rooms with flooring, paintworks & false ceiling done. =)

Living room with foyer area tiles exposed.

Entertainment room: Decked with black ceilings.

Search for ID

Our search for ID began shortly after we confirmed our unit.
We approached a few ID firms, namely:
1) Intra Design
2) Ideal House
3) U Home
4) Unimax Creative

In the end, we signed up with Intra & our ID was Dave-boss of Intra. =)
Right from the start, he has this factor about him which makes me feel that my renovation will be "safe" in his hands. I guess its called woman's sixth sense. Haha.
Initially the reason we chose to give our business to him was simply because I can "click" with him & I like his designs despite the slightly higher quotation.

To date, since my renovation has started & right now, proceeding towards handover stage.
I am glad that I have made the correct choice.
He is thoroughly responsible & able to deliver what he promises. His workers are also efficient & they promptly reacts to his instructions. It was truly hassle-free since Dave does alot of the coordinating & updating.

The beginning

Dear all, finally I have some time to load my renovation pictures in a more orderly manner.
Well, I shall begin by sharing the process of how we came about to buy this unit:
Guess lady luck was smiling on us when the bi-monthly HDB exercise took place in February.
We were allocated 200 odd queue number in the process & we were so excited over the balloting results. Spent quite many hours searching amongst the many units available for the unit that we wanted.
Finally, fate decided that we were allocated this EA just 1 street away from my parent's home.
Area of this EA is approx 148msq. Spacious enough for my HTB & I, his father & sister & his maid. =) Personally, I prefer staying in a livier home with more people.

Here's my floorplan:
